So you think you'd like to join the HDPA Board of Directors?
You can!
HDPA requires that interested volunteers follow a 6 month
internship program with HDPA before application for a Board position.
This will help to develop your knowledge of HDPA and your commitment
to HDPA. It also allows the current Board to develop confidence in you.
Our small organization requires our Board to be hands on and you can
get a feel for that thru the 6 month internship as well. Our meetings
take place around the 610/290 area - currently the Board meets every
2 months on Wed night at 7 pm (4th Wed of month) at Petco on 290 at
43rd. Meetings will be announced via our newsletter, be sure to sign
up for that. Events vary but are running about one a month- Our current
calendar of events is here:http://www.houstondogpark.org/events.htm
and Meetings are here: http://www.houstondogpark.org/meetings.htm
Maintain over the next 6 months:
1. Become a paid member of HDPA
2. Attend 75% of events
and meetings
3. Actively learn about and participate in HDPA programs
of your choice
4. Join a Committee and actively participate
or chair it, or form a new one and Chair it, or be a park Liaison
5. Offer expertise & advise at meetings and via email discussions
6. Assist HDPA physically as a volunteer at 50 % of events
7. Logon to Huddle and be active (request a login from Tiffany)
8. Read the HDPA Bylaws and become familiar
with them
9. Memorize the HDPA Mission
Do any time in the next 6 months:
1. Develop resources for HDPA such as new donors, new members, new Board
candidates, new sponsors, new event suggestions, new dog park information
and research, new City or County contacts, etc.
10. Support HDPA financially by making a financial donation
within your means.
11. Review the HDPA Board Application documents in Huddle and submit
in 6 months to apply for Board position.
12. Visit 5 different dog parks listed on our map
and write a short paragraph about your impression of each one and submit
with application.

Tiffany Moore
HDPA President and Board Chair
The Houston Dog Park Association is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit
organization founded in 1998. The purpose of HDPA is establishing and
supporting a network of off-leash dog parks in greater Houston and the
surrounding communities.
HDPA's MISSION:
HDPA is dedicated to educating all people
as to the responsibilities and benefits of pet ownership and supporting
the development of off-leash dog parks as environmentally compatible
areas for enjoyment and recreation.
~~~~~~
Through your donations, the HDPA is able to continue
our educational, advisory, and support efforts at local dog-related
events and on our web site. HDPA will also use donations to fund dog
parks, improve dog parks, and support our operations. While
your financial contribution is important to us, your volunteer
efforts as “a working member” are invaluable. Join us
and help your dog have the time of its life.
We have a great team started and need a few good
dedicated dog park lovers! If you would like to interview for a Board
position or Committee Chair position that is open, please email info@houstondogpark.org
