PROGRAMS

NW area dog park effort

HDPA is currently focused on a program to get a NW Area Dog Park. HDPA is holding education tables, gathering community support, getting petitions signed, passing out information, and maintaining contact with City and County Parks Departments to advocate for dog park supporters in the area around Cy-Fair, Spring, Cypress, Champions, Willowbrook and more. We are seeking a dog park within the boundary of 249 and 290 and outside the Beltway. NEW UPDATE: land is being donated on 1960 near Jones Rd for a small public dog park! Learn more and donate to specific items to get name plaque recognition!

TC Jester Dog Park Improvements

The new TC Jester dog park is developing nicely. HDPA has donated improvements to the park already. Call to Doody generously sponosred one of the new Dogipot bag stations and HDPA donated the second station. The City has installed them inside the park and "donation plaques" showing the donor names have been installed. HDPA held a Grand Opening ceremony to commemorate the park and HDPA's first program goal success of the new year. Read details and see photos here. HDPA now plans to advocate to get hinged door trash can lids on the trash bins to increase sanitation, and possibly add a trash can or two inside the park as well.

Happy Feet and Paws Program for TC Jester Dog Park

The ground cover installed before the Grand Opening on April 24th is a little too large for comfort and HDPA is working to solve this issue. We have a volunteer day planned on June 12th at 8 am to be hosted by Nutro dog food. Come on out and help by providing labor or refreshments. We will regrind the mulch and respread it as well as install some landscaping features in the park. Please note that all other 'small' City of Houston dog parks have this same ground cover. See photos here.

3. Sugarland's Pawm Springs

This new dog park needed a water fountain in the park. HDPA advocated to the City of Sugarland Parks Dept. and they have installed one, PROGRAM SUCCESSFUL!

4. Tomball is getting a dog park

It is Precinct 4's very first dog park and HDPA wants to be a part of this exciting development by donating an engraved memorial bench seat. We will also be doing a education event for Tomball and educating at the grand opening (date TBD). Watch your HDPA Newsletter for details.

5. Gragg Park Animal Campus and Dog Park

HDPA Donated $500 towards the development of this new dog park, adoption center and spay/neuter facility that will take adoptable cats and dogs from BARC to improve adoption rates. We challenge you to help match our $500 or more by donating today! Make a donation to the Houston Parks Board for Gragg Park and mention "in the name of HDPA". Learn more about Gragg Park Animal Campus- info pdf.

Exciting news: Tiffany Moore, President of HDPA, was recently appointed to the Advisory Committee for the Animal Campus at Gragg Park to help advise on the dog park design.

6. Education to promote responsible dog ownership and safe dog parks.

Help HDPA achieve it's primary mission by giving just $10.00. Your donation to this program will be used to fund printing services that will create campaigns, flyers and programs that HDPA uses to educate the public about responsible pet ownership so that we can help better the lives of all canine companions and make dog parks safe and fun for everyone!
